Easy to get temporary coverage

I was looking for a COBRA alternative when I left my last job, and Pivot Health popped up. I ended up getting a fixed indemnity insurance plan. It was pretty straightforward to get a quote and sign up online, which was nice. Took about 10 minutes to get everything sorted. I felt like I understood what I was getting, and the cost was reasonable. It gave me peace of mind until my new benefits kicked in. I'd tell a friend to check them out if they needed something similar.

Good short-term coverage

I needed bridge health insurance between jobs. Pivot Health was easy to sign up for online. Coverage started quickly, which was important. It did the job for a few months.

My COBRA payments are insane. Is a Pivot Health plan a decent alternative for a few months while I look for new work?

A Adam 14 hours ago
Definitely check it out. For a temporary gap, it can be way cheaper than COBRA. Just make sure you understand the differences in coverage, especially for pre-existing stuff.

It was a lifesaver for me when I was between jobs. COBRA was just too much. Pivot Health gave me peace of mind for a fraction of the cost, but it's not as comprehensive as COBRA would be.

Are these plans available everywhere? I'm in New York and looking for something temporary.

J John Jones 3 days ago
Nah, not all states unfortunately. You gotta check their site, they have a list. New York might be one of the ones they don't cover, I remember seeing some states excluded.

P Paul Young 3 days ago
I'm in Texas and had no problem getting a plan. You should definitely put your zip code in and see what pops up for NY.

Is it worth bundling dental and vision? Do you actually save money or is it just easier to have it all in one place?

A Alex D. 1 week ago
I bundled my dental and vision and it did save me a little bit, maybe 10-15% compared to getting them separately somewhere else. Plus, it's just simpler.

M Mary Allen 1 week ago
Yeah, I think it's worth it if you need those coverages. They don't do promo codes for the main insurance, so bundling is one of the only ways to get a bit of a discount.

Are there any promo codes or discounts floating around for new members? Looking to save a bit.

J James Nelson 2 weeks ago
I haven't really seen any promo codes for the insurance itself. I think the savings mostly come from picking the right plan or bundling stuff.

M Megan D. 2 weeks ago
They don't really do promo codes like a regular store. What I did was bundle my dental and vision with my short-term plan and that saved me a decent amount, maybe like 10% overall.

I have an old knee injury that flares up sometimes. Would a short-term plan cover something like that if I needed treatment?

T Tim P. 4 weeks ago
Honestly, probably not. Short-term plans usually don't cover pre-existing conditions at all. You'd need to check the fine print, but that's a common exclusion.

B Brittany Roberts 3 weeks ago
From my experience, pre-existing conditions are a no-go with these types of plans. They're really for unexpected new illnesses or accidents.

How does Pivot Health compare to something like Blue Cross Blue Shield? Is it even legit or more like a scam?

S Sam Clark 2 weeks ago
It's legit, but it's totally different from BCBS. BCBS is full ACA-compliant insurance. Pivot Health is short-term, so it's not meant to be a permanent replacement. Good for gaps, though.
3
S Susan Martin 2 weeks ago
Nah, it's not a scam. They're real insurance, but just keep in mind it's for temporary needs. It won't cover everything like a comprehensive BCBS plan would, especially pre-existing stuff.

Hey, thinking about a short term plan here. How fast can I actually get coverage going? Like, if I sign up today, am I covered tomorrow?

K Karen J. 5 days ago
Yeah, it's pretty quick. Mine kicked in just a couple days after I applied, I think it was like 24-48 hours. Not instant but close enough for emergencies.

J Justin W. 4 days ago
It depends on the plan you pick, but generally, it's fast. Way faster than regular insurance. I got mine active within a week for sure.

how long can you actually keep one of these short term plans for? is it just like 3 months or something?

A Alex Gomez 1 week ago
It can be longer than that, actually. Depends on your state, but I think some go up to almost a year, sometimes even longer with renewals. You'd have to check what's allowed where you are.

B Brian T. 5 days ago
Mine was for 6 months, and I think I could have renewed it. It's not just a super short thing, but it's definitely not permanent insurance either.
